Creating an exclusive, timeless rug doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a long journey that starts with Katia Dewitte, our owner and creative director, traveling the world in search of inspiration.
After sharing her insights with the design and R&D teams, ideas for future collections and color palettes are discussed. Mood boards are created.
The design team then sketches virtual rugs based on digital tufting lines. After several revisions, samples of the selected designs and colors are launched.
1. Mixed yarns are spun together and gathered in a basket or on a rack.
2. A tufting robot shoots the yarns through a canvas.
3. Corrections are made by hand gun to fill holes due to shifting of the textile or to tuft the outlines.
4. A latex coating is applied on the back of the rug to fix the yarns and to provide floor grip.
5. The coating needs 24 hours of fixing in the oven at 60 degrees.
6. After drying, the rug is sheared on a hand-held machine.
7. The rug is placed on an airplate where the edges of the backing are cut and the borders are folded.
8. The rug undergoes a final inspection and vacuum clean session before getting wrapped up for delivery.
